- Secret Invasion #3
- Secret Invasion #5

Top 10 Graphic Novels/Trade Paperbacks:
- Watchmen
- Batman the Killing Joke
- Joker HC
- Sandman Vol. 1 Preludes and Nocturns
- Fables Vol.1 Legends in Exile

- Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 Vol. 1 Long Way Home
- Fables Vol. 3 Storybook Love
- Batman The Long Halloween
- Fables Vol. 2 Animal Farm
Here’s what I find interesting about the previous statistics. Of the top selling comic books, Marvel dominates with seven spots vs. three spots for DC. Additionally, all of the top 10 books are either a crossover event book or a crossover tie-in. On the flip side, the top 10 Graphic Novels/Trade Paperbacks is dominated by DC with nine spots. Marvel has zero spots in the the top 10 and has only two in the top twenty (WWH at #11 and Civil War at #13). With all of the hype surrounding the release of Watchmen later this year and the awesome trailer released with The Dark Knight, it’s no wonder that Watchmen made it to the number one spot. Likewise, Batman the Killing Joke has been out of print for a while and lots of people were clamoring for it. Of the three Batman titles that appear on the list, the only new release is the Joker HC. You may be tempted to relate the sales of Joker to the release of The Dark Knight, but trust me, this one will be a top seller for some time. Dominating four spots in the top ten is Fables. While Fables sells an average amount of monthly comics, it sells a tremendous amount in the Trade Paperback edition. Make no mistake about it, Fables is a great series. The last surprise from the Graphic Novel/Trade Paperback top ten is Sandman Vol. 1. I haven’t read Sandman since it was released in single issue form. So, this week I picked up the trades and starting reading. I’m on Vol. 5 and have to say that I’d forgotten how well written and researched the series is. So, there you have it, those were the best sellers of 2008. Feel free to leave a comment with your favorites from last year.
