Misc Ramblings from a Madman

Note: This is not a rambling from Mike Allred’s Madman, though that would be funny and maybe I could choose a new character each week and write it in their voice.
New York Comic-Con wrapped up this weekend and it was bigger than ever. Some of the more odd news to come out of the event were:
Brett Ratner to Direct Youngblood (I just threw up a little bit in my mouth)
Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers (I want to make fun of this but it could be fun)
Motion Comics was all the buzz making the rounds at the con this year. If you’re late to the party there are already Motion Comics for Watchmen, Invincible, and now Marvel is joining the fray. The initial hoopla was the announcement that the Motion Comic release for Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Woman series would hit iTunes two weeks before the print version. Marvel has since back peddled and said that in fact the release hasn’t been determined. So, is an iTunes version of a comic going to put comic books stores out of business? No. Digital comics are nothing new and most of us would rather read a physical comic than stare at a monitor or iPhone/iPod. As Mr. Sequential says, “It’s the difference of taking a bike ride through a park or taking a taxi”.
