Personally I have a huge problem with Blackest Night.

Much like it’s predecessor (event wise) Final Crisis, you cannot read the miniseries on it’s own. CANNOT. You are required to read GL in order to know what the hell is going on. In many ways I feel you have to read a few of the anciliary titles as well, particularly BK: Titans.

Compare that to Sinestro Corps War. That may have been the tightest crossover EVER. If you wanted to read just Green Lantern, that is all you had to read (well, except the Sinestro Corps #0). Same with GLC. But if you wanted to read both titles, you had a richer reading experience.

This new format that is strictly motivated by greed is BS. How exactly do you collect BK in a trade? BK’s first 5 issues have entire scenes missing that are only contained in the regular GL series. In order for the stories to make sense, you have recollect it with the GL and BK scenes interweaving.

And now you have this crap where Johns is lying saying “oh yeah, I always planned it this way.” Bull. All you have to do is look at Sinestro Corps to know this is DC editorial pulling the strings.

I do have to agree with you about event fatigue. Now we have Brightest Day coming up alongside Generation Lost as two concurrent bi-weekly year long series. 52 was a success. Everything since has been garbage (with the exception of maybe Wednesday Comics). DC needs to let it go.

And Marvel is just as bad, though I do think their event stories do stay mostly in miniseries. Yes, every other series is involved in Dark Reign, but I don’t feel you have to read all of them. You might be a sucker and do that, but you don’t expressly have to.

I have a lot of other complaints, but I need to get back to work.

    Good show, guys.
