This year Free Comic Book Day at BSI Comics is bigger than ever. Join us starting at 10:00 AM for these events and guests.

  • Derec DonovanDerec Donovan is a veteran artist in the industry, and has worked for Marvel and DC on books such as Superman, Spider-man, Jubilee, Robin, Connor Hawke, and Youngblood.
  • Desmond “Monty” Smith – Monty was voted Clerk of the Year at BSI Comics and does the awesomely awesome Welcome to Border City.
  • Lewis AlemanLewis Aleman is the author of the time travel thriller, Faces in Time, and the dark literary thriller, Cold Streak, which became an Amazon Bestseller, a Kindle Bestseller, and #1 in Myspace Books. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Creative Writing. He grew up and still resides just outside of New Orleans. Currently, he is fast at work on the first book in a realistic fantasy series, entitled A Brother, A Drunkard, and Something Odd.
  • Robby Musso – Robby is the artist for such books as Transformers Spotlight: Ultra Magnus, Speed Racer: Chronicles of the Racer, Transformers Spolight: Ramjet, The Transformers: Devastation, and more. His portfolio can be found on Deviant Art.
  • Ted M. Walley – Considered by some to be the comic book world’s “man-in-black,” is the founder of the independent comic book company Voodoo Maverick Publishing and its flag ship title, MATHILDA™. What makes him and his company unique is that he does all of the writing, penciling, inking, lettering, advertising, marketing, promotions and web design himself, in addition to his business duties for the company itself. Voodoo Maverick Publishing is the sole effort of Tedd M. Walley and he would have it no other way.
  • Vernon SmithVernon Smith was born and raised in New Orleans and haa been drawing comics for as long as he can recall. His first published work was a comic book called One Boat that he wrote and drew when he was 7 years old. In high school he developed a comic book called The Protectorate and filled up about 5 notebooks and sketchbooks with plotlines, fully written stories, and layout illustrations. He later renamed the series to Port Authority and tried putting it out in his first newbie attempt at self-publishing…boy did he learn a lot! After the Port Authority attempt, he dropped out of the comics scene for a couple of years until a certain wombat cowboy pulled him back in.
  • Ryan Lord - Skipjack artist, designer, and  web developer. Fun Fact: Able to spontaneously conceptually justify any Artistic decision.
  • Jon LordSkipjack writer. Fun Fact: Able to identify any film score in the known universe.
  • Wendy Warrelmann- Wendy attended SCAD and her awesome artwork can be found on her website.
  • Kevin JohnsonStrange City Heroes is a webcomic strip published by Kevin P. Johnson every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in full color. The comic is based around superheroes, supervillains, zombies and monsters.
  • Protecting Louisiana from rebel scum since 2008, come and meet the 501st.
  • Boudreaux – Boudreaux has made Zephyr Field his home since 1997 when he was found lost in the swamp exhibit at the Audubon Zoo. The Zephyrs adopted Boo and put him to work as the official mascot. He has charmed and entertained hundreds of thousands of fans throughout the region and was the New Orleans’ most celebrated bachelor…until 1998. Boudreaux will be appearing courtesy of the New Orleans Zephyrs from 11am-1pm.
