5 WONDER WOMAN BOOKS FOR NEW READERS

With Gal Gadot in the tiara, Wonder Woman has never been more popular.   Of course, even with Patty Jenkins’ big-budget action epic making millions of new Wonder Woman fans, there are still millions of them that have never read a comic about Diana.

Here are 5 amazing Wonder Woman stories for 5 different fans.

1. FOR THE GREEK MYTHOLOGY FAN:

BLOOD BY BRIAN AZZARELLO AND CLIFF CHIANG

My personal favorite of these is the Azzarello series of books.  Blood introduces a subtle but important change to the Wonder Woman mythos.  Diana quickly finds family she never knew she had and must face off against the Gods of Greek myth in order to save the life of an unborn child.

2. FOR THE MYSTERY FAN:

LIES BY GREG RUCKA AND LIAM SHARP

Greg Rucka is on the short list of top Wonder Woman writers.  His series with Liam Sharp is currently ongoing and makes Diana question everything she’s ever been told.

3. FOR THE PIN-UP ART FAN:

WHO IS WONDER WOMAN? BY ALLAN HEINBERG AND TERRY DODSON

Allan Heinberg went from writing for the a teen soap (remember the O.C.? No? Ah well.) to writing the Young Avengers.  In who is Wonder Woman, Diana is actually missing as her sister Donna Troy is forced to take up the tiara.   It’s a great book with amazing art by the legendary Terry Dodson and his wife Rachel Dodson.

4. FOR THE TEENS AND TWEENS:

LEGEND OF WONDER WOMAN BY RENAE DE LIZ AND RAY DILLON

There’s a lot of retellings of Diana’s origins.  This one explores her childhood on Themyscira as she steps on the road to becoming Wonder Woman.

5. FOR YOUR LITTLE PRINCESS:

SUPERHERO GIRLS: FINALS CRISIS

I don’t think you need me to explain this one to you.
